Sura Gitel was the daughter of Cyrla Bulwa and Ejzyk Waldberg of Chmielnik; both her parents died on the same day on December 31, 1895.

Sura Gitel emigrated to the UK with her family in 1903. She became a widow in 1908.

From 1921, she lived at 88, Osbaldeston Rd. Clapton, London N.16 with her daughter Hinda (Annie) and family.
